The
chemical storage tanks at Acron
Co., Ltd. were suspected of having seepage,
leakage and corrosion on and around the tank floors. IMMS
was assigned to inspect a few tanks using Acoustic Emission
method. The data acquired by AE method indicated that
there was one small leak on one tank, and there were several
locations of corrosion on one of the other tanks.
As
per IMMS recommendation, all the tanks were drained down
one at once for complete evaluation of storage tank condition.
The visual investigation confirmed that the data obtained
from AE method were significantly accurate, one minor
leak and one location of severe corrosion were found at
the locations monitored from Acoustic Emission method.
